Guidelines for undertaking safety measures at Government workplaces Issued by the Government of Uttarakhand on April 14, 2021

14, Apr 2021 | CJP Team

In the light of growing cases in the state, the Government of Uttarakhand has issued certain precautionary measures for Government offices.

They were instructed to sanitize doors, lifts, stairs, chairs etc. at least twice every week with sodium hypochlorite or chloroxylenol or parachlorometaxylenol (PCMX). Likewise, they were instructed to sanitize floors, toilets etc. with phenol at least twice every day. All persons working there to ensure Covid Appropriate Behaviour. They are also prohibited from chewing tobacco or smoking.

Such offices were required to ensure ventilation, provide clean drinking water, employ the usage of disposable cups and importantly, assure sanitizers and thermal scanning of officers working therein.

While these measure are necessary to ensure the health of employees given how Government machinery cannot be shut down, this appears to be an eyewash given the government’s stand on the Kumbh Mela where despite scaled down numbers, large crowds of people will prove to be a huge stumbling block on Covid control measures.
