CJP Helped Gangadhar To Meet His Mother After Spending 4-years In Detention Centre In Assam Sentinel Assam

Gangadhar said that when he reached Guwahati, a person has offered him a job, food, and shelter.

A 23-year old person who is a resident of West Bengal and was declared a foreigner by Foreigners’ Tribunal in Assam and put him behind the bars in Goalpara detention camp finally released and met with his family.

The person identified as Gangadhar Pramanik a resident of Bankura of West Bengal arrived in Guwahati from his home by train in search of work to help his poor family.

Gangadhar said that when he reached Guwahati, a person has offered him a job, food, and shelter.

He worked as a helper in a restaurant for several years. Then he worked in a factory and faced many troubles when the police of Assam had caught him and put him behind the bars suspecting him an illegal infiltrator of Bangladesh.

In the meantime, his father Mantu passed away and his mother suffering from a paralyzing. However, no one from his family was aware of Gangadhar.

Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) Assam In-charge Nanda Ghosh said that in July they heard about Gangadhar.

Nanda said Gangadhar was in a detention center for the last four years.

He informed that they went to the resident of Gangadhar in West Bengal but nobody was living there and they left the place without any address or contact numbers.

“The neighbor of Gangadhar has given us some details about the new address of Gangadhar’s family. And following this, we managed to trace his mother Bharati and sister Champa.

CJP then managed to take bail of Gangadhar but as he has no address in the state, CJP officials had to give an undertaking that they would take him to West Bengal.

After Gangadhar reached home and met his family, his mother hugged him and cried and said, “My son Ganga is back,”
