Indian Cabinet green-lights National Nutrition Mission

The cabinet has approved the establishment of a National Nutrition Mission (NNM) to tackle malnourishment and stunted growth, LiveMint reported. The government is aiming to cut undernutrition, stunting, and low birthweight by 2% per year among 100 million people. It also hopes to cut anaemia among women, adolescent girls, and young children by 3% every year. The mission has a budge of Rs. 9,046 crore for three years. Maneka Gandhi, minister for women and child development, said NNM will work on the food that must be distributed to tackle the above mentioned conditions, its distribution process, and the oversight of this process.
