A student activist, Gulshifa Fatima was jailed for allegedly inciting violence during the February 2020 Delhi violence. She remains behind bars at Tihar jail. After she alleged harassment by jail authorities, a Delhi court directed jail authorities to change the staff if necessary.

July 9, 2021

Delhi High Court dismisses Fatima’s habeas corpus plea on grounds that she was in a judicial custody and the detention cannot be termed illegal.

November 6, 2020

Delhi’s Karkardooma court has directed the Tihar Jail authorities to change the staff who student activist Gulfisha Fatima had accused of harassing her. Gulfisha, had complained to the court that she was being subjected to communal slurs and mental harassment by the prison staff.

May 13, 2020

Delhi Court grants bail on furnishing bond and surety of ₹20,000 in the case where she is booked under IPC charges of rioting, obstructing a public servant at work. However, she remains in jail in connection with FIR 59 (Delhi Riots Conspiracy Case).

April 18, 2020

Charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for alleged role in inciting North East Delhi riots.

April 9, 2020

Arrested by the Delhi Police under Indian Penal Code sections for rioting and promoting enmity between groups.
